Gas Natural Fenosa has changed its name to Naturgy

Gas Natural Fenosa has changed its name to Naturgy, the new brand that will face the upcoming challenges in the company’s 2018-2022 Strategic Plan. Also, the name will be changed in all the company’s Spanish and International businesses. Therefore, the new name of the parent company will be Naturgy Energy Group, S.A., as it informed in its website.

Francisco Reynés, Chairman of Naturgy, explained that: “We are very aware of the fact that the world is changing. The markets, the technology, and especially people, are evolving. We, as a company, must rise up to the challenge, while respecting our 175-year history. With Naturgy, we will build an international brand adapted to each of the global markets where we are present and the ones we will enter in the future. After these years, we are giving a new boost in order to face new commitments. To be closer to our customers wherever they are, as well as offering clean, simple, and environmentally friendly solutions.”

The new name is meant to provide a global and transforming drive, in line with the company’s new Strategic Plan 2018-2022. This change will set the basis for consolidating the energy company as one of the main energy operators worldwide.

The company announced this new development to its shareholders during the General Shareholder Meeting held on June 27 in Madrid. At the meeting, the directors explained the reasons for this transformation of Gas Natural Fenosa into Naturgy. Said reasons included an emphasis on the environment, simplicity, technological innovation, digitalization, and globalization.

Naturgy wants to represent the energy in nature, as well as a digital and global company that works to improve people’s lives through simple and natural energy.

“The company is not starting from scratch. We are known for being an energy company that is committed to its customers, and now we will be more so. Also, we will go further, simplifying our customers’ lives thanks to technology and meeting their needs. We will be simpler, more digital, and we will take care to be agiler,” the Chairman told the shareholders.

With the name change, the company’s new ticker will be EBEX35: NTGY.

All in all, the company – which will present its new Strategic Plan tomorrow in London – is betting on simplifying its processes, especially those that directly impact its customers. This is why the new Naturgy is also seeking to promote simpler interactions and accessibility in the energy world.
