Automaker Tesla Inc. announced this week it will launch orders for its new $35,000 Model 3 sedan. According to its website, delivery for the vehicle will take two to four weeks. The move comes nearly three years after the firm launched this vehicle with the same market price.
The Model 3, a five-seat electric sedan, was presented for the first time by the company’s CEO Elon Musk on March 31, 2016. Back then, the executive assured that the vehicle would cost $35,000 without incentives. The first 30 deliveries were made on July 28, 2017. Now, the company aims to conquer the international market.
Tesla had never managed to sell this vehicle at this price. Last month, Musk stated that he expected this cheaper version would be out for sale by mid-year. In 2018, the Tesla Model 3 was the highest-selling premium vehicle in the United States.

Tesla committing to sustainable transportation
At the moment, Musk stressed that Tesla manufactured electric cars in order to accelerate the transition towards the use of non-pollutant vehicles.
Indeed, in 2016 carbo dioxide levels (CO2) reached historic levels not seen in 11 million years, standing at 403 parts per million during that same year. During his speech, Musk showed CO2 concentration graphs based on the Keeling curve, which indicated that the rise of pollution was nearly vertical and continued to grow.
The Earth’s average temperature increased by around 0.8°C since 1880. The heating speed nearly doubled by the second half of this period.
Musk warned that a study conducted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2013 determined that nearly 53,000 people a year died in the United States as a consequence of toxic emissions in the atmosphere; said emissions were mainly caused by fossil fuels used in the automobile sector
I see what you did there Tesla! Mid range Model 3 price just dropped by $1,100 creating a much prettier entry point of $42,900 vs previous $44,000!

Sales will be exclusively handled online
Tesla has lowered the price of the Model 3 two times this year. The vehicle currently retails at $42,900, given that as of January the United States eliminated a fiscal credit formerly granted to the company, raising the price of this vehicle by $3,750.
The new $35,000 version can reach a maximum speed of 210 km/h and go from zero to 96 kilometers in 5.6 seconds, according to Tesla. For an additional $2,000, Tesla offers a version with a driving range of 386 kilometers and top speed of 225 km/h.
Tesla indicated that global sales will now be exclusively handled online. The company also announced it will close many of its stores.
The 35,000 Model 3 will be a great boost for Tesla, especially at a time of great challenges for the Silicon Valley company. The move could ease analysts’ concerns that the demand will be limited throughout 2019.
